Selank is a synthetic peptide derived from the immune-associated tetrapeptide tuftsin and is commonly described by the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro.
What researchers examine
Published experimental work has evaluated gene-expression changes involving chemokines, cytokines, and their receptors after Selank or related fragments in mouse tissue. Other research traditions have explored behavioral and neurochemical endpoints, but the evidence base is smaller and less independently replicated than that of established medicines.
How to interpret the evidence
Changes in mouse mRNA after a single exposure do not establish a human therapeutic effect, durable functional outcome, or safety profile. Sequence verification is especially important when comparing Selank with shorter fragments such as Gly-Pro.
