Ipamorelin: A Growth-Hormone-Secretagogue Primer

Platinum Bio Labs EditorialJuly 2026
Ipamorelin Research Peptide research primer

Ipamorelin's receptor pharmacology and the preclinical basis of its research classification.

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide developed as a growth-hormone secretagogue. Early pharmacology identified activity through a GHRP-like receptor system, now understood within ghrelin-receptor research.

What researchers examine

The foundational study compared growth-hormone release in rat pituitary cells and animal models and evaluated selectivity relative to other pituitary hormones. These experiments established a chemical-probe rationale, not a general human benefit.

How to interpret the evidence

Cell and animal endocrine readouts depend on species, anesthesia, sampling windows, baseline pulsatility, and assay design. A short peptide's activity also depends on sequence stereochemistry, terminal amidation, purity, and degradation. The cited work does not establish an approved clinical use for this research material.
